2005 Reservoir Project Info below

Because of the growing demand for water, Pinewood’s Water District designed a plan that included installing large-diameter pipe, and the reservoir’s construction. The pictures below show the projects from inception to completion. Approximate date; from inception in 2000 to 2009 when the reservoir was first filled.

Trenching and Pipe Laying

The massive 113,000-pound trencher moves down Kiowa

The outflow and intake piles were set into a trench that measured three-feet wide by seven-feet deep

Each 50-foot length of high-density polyethylene pipe took 20 minutes to fuse

PWSWD cut costs in half by using Colorado’s largest trenching machine

The “packer-whacker” tamps down the trench soil

The rock was literally ground into dirt and the “spoil” conveyed to the side of the trench
